Michelle Campillo was born in California, but grew up in Mexico. After completing journalism school in Mexico, she traveled in Europe for three years, picking up both French and Italian languages along the way.
Her love of travel and adventure spurred her to pursue a career as a professional travel planner that has lasted more than 30 years. While Michelle likes to say she can sell the world, which is true, she has a particular fondness for Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
Whether she is arranging travel for athletic groups like the Olympic Track and Field team; sending families to their ancestral homelands, or arranging complicated itineraries for business travelers, Michelle loves the challenge of ensuring her customer are expertly served with the best-priced itineraries to meet their needs.
Tone Evensen, native of Sweden, was born with a travel bug. Inspired by stories from her globetrotting father, Tone developed and an insatiable curiosity about different cultures and geographies. At the age of 17, Tone embarked on her first solo venture traveling to England, then over the next 10 years she traveled throughout western and eastern Europe and the United States.
In the 1980s, she relocated to San Francisco and put her personal experience and professional travel management training to work for clients. Known for being both creative and detail-oriented, Tone delivers itineraries that uniquely reflect the personality and needs of her clients, whether they are youth soccer teams, families, business travelers, budget-conscious or luxury-seeking travelers.
Tone doesn't have a favorite destination, citing too many wonderful options. Though an African Safari, a tour of the Fjords in Norway, and a night in an ice hotel in Sweden — are all top picks.
Together Tone and Michelle have built Scandia Travel Unlimited into a service their customers can turn to for travel advice, best fares and problem solving. And, as customers will tell you, their joy in traveling and commitment to service is evident in everything they do.
